Columba spiritual care

Texts from the “Lebensfarben” project by Markus Starklauf

The first prose text invites readers to look at their own life balance and to live attentively in the here and now, aware of finitude.

When life slows down and sits beside us, the speaker can read the book of life: stories from the past, longing in the present and dreams for tomorrow. The colors of life appear: red for the heart, blue for longing, grey and black for sadness, green for hope. Feeling these colors becomes a moment of truly living.

From this presence grows gratitude: for being alive, for loving and being lovable, and for the one who lets the speaker breathe and wishes happiness. The text resolves not to postpone life, but to live its colors today so that one day the speaker can say: I have not wasted my life.

The following poem “Vergiss mein nicht” tells of an old man at his wife’s grave and the hope that love is endless. He speaks to her, brings flowers and light, returns to the house they shared, and carries the pain of absence.

The song text “Wenn du gehst,” written by Markus Starklauf with music by Matthias Stengel, tells of a man accompanying his wife through cancer at home with SAPV support. It gives voice to love, helplessness, farewell and the belief that what is essential remains, even when the beloved person goes.
