She notes that in Hesse an emergency physician is not allowed to issue an SAPV prescription; only a general practitioner, specialist or hospital may do so. From the perspective of an SAPV team, she would welcome a rule allowing emergency physicians to prescribe SAPV in order to prevent hospital admission or honor a patient’s wish to be cared for at home even in severe symptoms.
