Vorwort

Dear readers,

The year is slowly drawing to a close, and looking back, there has once again been a great deal of movement in the hospice and palliative care field. The laws passed at the end of last year brought many new thoughts and opinions. In this issue, Dr. Sitte and Dr. Thöns take up those questions.

Professor Giovanni Maio reflects on what occupies people in the final phase of life, and what hope and acceptance can mean in that time.

For us, too, it has been an exciting year. With this magazine we entered unknown territory. Your strong interest, the print run of 10,000 copies and more than 70 distribution points have encouraged us to continue spreading the idea of Palliative Care. And the year is not quite over for our projects: at the end of November, our book Max, sein Opa und Columba, a book about grief, comfort and a little dove, will be published.

I wish you many good moments with the new COLUMBA.

Yours,
Dr. Jörg Cuno
